Hi, I'm April — I write Louisiana adventures for brave young readers.

Dr. April Hendrix Stone is a New Orleans-area educator, author, and lifelong bayou girl. She holds a doctorate in educational leadership and a master's in curriculum and instruction (mathematics), and she's spent 13+ years in classrooms — most of them teaching special education. April started writing the Bailey at the Bayou series for a simple reason: her students deserved adventure books that felt like home. Books with gators and gumbo, parades and pirogues — stories where Louisiana kids could see their own world on the page, and every kid could find a hero worth following into the swamp. When she's not teaching or writing, she's exploring the bayou with her springer spaniel Sebastian, hunting down the best beignets in Louisiana.
